RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol) can be used to initiate video streaming from both DX4700-series and DX4800-series NVRs.
The URL format is:
rtsp://<DX_IP_Address>[:554]/streamN (where N = 1, 2, … represents the NVR channel number and [:554] indicates the optional default RTSP port)
The URL format equivalent is:
rtsp://<DX_IP_Address>/streamN (where N = 1, 2, …)
- The default port for RTSP is 554. Including :554 in the URL is optional and is not required.
- The value of N can be any of the DX channel numbers, starting at 1 for channel 1 and increment to n for the last channel n.
The URL rtsp://192.168.5.196/stream3 connects to the DX4816 in the Partner Integration Lab (PIL) and requests the stream from channel 3. Figure 1 illustrates how to use the application VLC to open this stream.
