Video Streaming and Exporting Performance

This section shows the maximum number of supported streams for video streaming and video exporting operations using the Pelco SDK.

Video streaming and exporting performance testing was conducted on two separate computers.

Both sets of test results are presented in this section for comparison. Because there are many hardware configurations, conclusions should not be drawn about the performance of any particular computer.

The following describes the specifications of both the minimum specification computer and the high-end computer that were subjected to the testing.

Table 1. Specifications of test computers
  Minimum Specification Computer High-End Computer
Operating System Windows® Server 2008 R2 64-bit Windows XP SP3 32-bit
CPU 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz Intel Xeon (Quad Core)
RAM 2GB 3GB
HDD SATA HDD SATA HDD
Graphics card nVidia Quadro FX 550 PCI Express-128 MB nVidia Quadro FX 580 PCI Express-512 MB

Maximum Number of Concurrent Export Streams

The exported video streams were 30 minutes in duration for single streams and 15 minutes for dual-stitched streams. The streams were PEF format, 30 IPS, and depicted a scene of medium complexity (contained some motion).

Maximum Number of Export Streams From a Minimum Specification Computer

The maximum number of concurrent export streams supported by a computer with the minimum specifications are shown in the following table.

  Export Type
Stream Type Single Export (no overlays) Single Export (overlays) Two-Clip Export (stitched, overlays)
MPEG-4, 1SIF (352x240) 6 1 1
